Once the request is granted, TAP will be officially registered as an interconnector to the Italian gas network with 15 km of onshore pipeline in Puglia from Brin-disi to Mesagne.

The request for inclusion in the Rete Nazionale Gas will be followed by a detailed study of the Environmental, Social Impact Assessment.

Once the inclusion is granted, TAP will benefit from the processing of all applications and permits in Italy by the central and local governments.

The 520 km TAP pipeline will begin near Thessaloniki, Greece, and cross through Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before ending near Brindisi, Italy. The project is aimed at enhancing both the security and the diversification of gas supplies for the European markets and the pipeline will have an initial capacity of 10 Bcm/a of gas with the possibility of increasing capacity to 20 Bcm/a.
